I don't hold the copyright on information conveyed in these images, but I do hold the copyright on its presentation.
These floor plans are for your personal use. You can download the gifs and print out the pdf file. If you've got a web-deprived friend, you can even print out a copy for her/him. But you can't charge for it, not even reimbursement costs.
Don't: Use my images in a document (zine) without my permission or put them on any website without my permission. In short, use your common sense. I don't want to restrict the exchange of information, but I do feel I am entitled to determine how my hard work is distributed.
If in doubt, please ask! Chances are 99,999 out of 100,000 that I'll say “yes, go ahead.”
This is the fifth version of the loft's floorplan, completed in 1998. It combines information from several episodes, the "official" floorplan from Nightowl's Nest (provided by the production staff at Pet Fly), and a few details from people who have been lucky enough to visit the set. Remember: decorating details like paint and upholstery changed throughout the series, so these plans do not exactly match every single episode.
If you'd like to print out the floor plans, please download the pdf version. It will give you much better results than printing from the webpage itself, and everything is scaled to print nicely on standard US lettersize paper.
pdf is a file format for Adobe's Acrobat Reader. If you don't have a copy of the reader, you can download it directly from Adobe. If you'd like to know what detail came from what episode, it's in the pdf version of the floor plans. I've included a seven page list of nearly every detail that I put in the plans and the cross reference to each episode, so you can see for yourself.
There's also other cool information in there, like the fact that Jim sleeps with his automatic under his pillow (True Crime 2.06) and a general description of the loft and how it has changed through the seasons.
I tried providing this information in html format, but it was a coding nightmare. pdf allows me to make a simple table in a word-processing program and seamlessly integrate it into a pdf file. And the text is searchable, so you can easily find what you're looking for!
Also, please note that the email address given in the pdf file of the floor plans is incorrect. It's my old address and I haven't gone back to fix it.
This is a final first draft of the CPD floor plans. I watched "Siege" and "Night Shift" but was still hopelessly confused. Then I pulled out the CPAC documentary and found a shot of the actual floorplan used to label pieces of the set. (CPAC is a Canadian commercial-free television network.) I based my version on that.
I did not reconciled the CPAC information with what is known from the show, nor did I include information from people who have actually been privileged to visit the set. But I'm reasonably sure of its accuracy.
